The move for Casemiro, which might cost up to £70 million, is expected to make him Man United’s fourth summer acquisition.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the midfielder Casemiro to sign a four-year deal with an extra year option. Brazil’s international is expected to join United for a base cost of £60 million that may increase to £70 million based on performance-related add-ons.
With a deal that has been regarded as largely performance-related, Casemiro will become one of United’s biggest earners and stand to earn much more should the team advance to the Champions League.

After winning the Champions League five times with Real Madrid, Casemiro reportedly wanted a new professional challenge and wants to test himself in the Premier League.
When it became evident that Casemiro was more reachable, United manager Erik ten Hag prioritised signing Brazilian international Casemiro over a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the summer.
Any potential recruitment of De Jong this summer is now exceedingly doubtful given the impending arrival of Casemiro. Despite United’s insistence that Casemiro was a top priority for the midfield during the summer, it is believed that Ten Hag was willing to overlook signing an actual defensive midfielder due to his obsession with De Jong.
Scott McTominay, Fred, James Garner, and Donny van de Beek are United’s four deep-lying midfield options, according to numbers from earlier in the summer.
Garner, 21, is drawing attention from teams like Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Southampton, and Everton after United opted to trade him last week.
United’s midfield woes were brought to light by Brentford’s 4-0 battering of them and their opening weekend loss to Brighton. There isn’t a single defensively-minded player on the roster for the first team.
