Manchester United Star Jesse Lingard Chooses Nottingham Forrest Over West Ham

Jesse Lingard, a former offensive midfielder for Manchester United, has finalized a free transfer to Nottingham Forest.

After winning promotion to the Premier League, the 29-year-old, who has 32 England caps, becomes Forest’s 11th summer acquisition.

When his contract expired at the end of June, he departed United after more than 20 years with the organisation.

The duration of Lingard’s contract has not been made public by Forest.

Chose Nottingham Forrest Over West Ham!

He had also been linked with a move back to West Ham, where he spent the 2020–21 season on loan and scored nine goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

Lingard had 22 appearances for Manchester United last season, but just four of them were starts. He has also spoken with Everton.

He will wear the number 10 jersey at the City Ground, where he will pair up with former Manchester United teammate Dean Henderson.

Chose Money Over Former Club

The contract details for Jesse Lingard with Nottingham Forrest suggests that he will become the club’s top earner as they smash their wage structure to accommodate Lingard on around $110,000-120,000 per week, something that his former club in West Ham were not able to replicate.

It has been reported that Lingard was offered a contract from West Ham but there was about $50,000 difference in wages than what he will be earning at Nottingham Forrest this season, a stat that made it easy for Lingard to make a decision.
