Incredible Life Story Of Arsenal’s New Signing Oleksandr Zinchenko

Meet Oleksandr “Oleksy” Zinchenko. A deep dive into the story of Arsenal’s latest signing.

Oleksandr was born in December 1996 in the Ukrainian city of Radomyshl. At age 8, he joined Karpatiya Radomyshl, a youth club that gave him the stage to lay his career foundation.

His Early Football Days

In 2010 Zinchenko joined the Shakhtar Donetsk academy. At first, he saw this as a strong move for himself but he struggle to break into the first team and the club exiled him due to contract issues.

After 18 months out of football and failed moves due contract issues, Zinchenko signed with Ufa, a club in the Russian Premier League in 2015.

Starting To Get Noticed

At Ufa, Zinchenko often operated as an attacking left center midfielder and his technical ability began to blossom. He began to attract interest from clubs all over the world.

Arsene Wenger Wanted Him FOr Arsenal

One figure that had intently followed his career was Arsene Wenger. Arsene was blown away by the technical ability of the player and wanted to sign him for the Arsenal first team at the age of 17. “I need Zinchenko” he said.

A Move To The Premier League

Zinchenko would get his move to the Premier League moving to Manchester City in 2016 for a fee of an estimated £1.7 million. He would go out on loan to PSV for the upcoming season.

Zinchenko would return to City and transition into a left back role. During his time at the club he would make over 100 appearances and win 4 Premier League Titles.

Pep Guardiola has always referred to Zinchenko as “incredible”. Recently Kyle Walker listed Zinchenko as one of the top 3 technically gifted players in the city squad.

Zinchenko has always been hungry for more responsibility and he will get that at Arsenal. He is known for playing with his heart on his sleeve and will add value to the Arsenal squad on and off the pitch.
