After the huge success of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, many studios are inspired to move forward with the release of their movies instead of delaying them again. One of those studios that made the decision was Sony, which released Venom: Let There Be Carnage on October 1st, 2021.
Good thing Sony didn’t push the release date again. In its first weekend, Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been successfully raking in $90.1 million in North America, as reported by SyFy Wire. This fact alone is impressive, considering the movie improved on the opening weekends of other huge movies like Black Widow and of course, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The step that Sony took to not delaying the release date any further seems to be a smart move. If they delay the release to November, for instance, this movie will have to compete with Eternals, which is another superhero movie directed by Chloe Zhao, set to be released on November 5th, 2021.
