Recently, Honda shared photos of the new Civic Type R as a prototype model covered in camouflage. This new model is set to hit the road in 2022 and is based on the eleventh-generation Civic’s four-door hatchback.
Design-wise, the new model maintains its aggressiveness with a big wig on the back, as well as the stunning wheel and tire package. The new design offers a more attractive look like never before.
Even though the whole body style is based on the eleventh-generation Civic four-door hatchback, we can clearly see the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires wrapped around the stunning ten-spoke black wheels on the new Civic Type R. From the rearview, we can feel more of the sporty vibes, owing to three exhaust pipes and a huge rear wing.

Honda has not announced any information regarding the technical details nor the price just yet. But it is expected that the new Civic Type R will be equipped with the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four as the previous model, but the engine will likely be getting a little tune-up for some extra power and torque. However, Honda has already confirmed that the new Civic Type R will be offered in a six-speed manual transmission.
